Microsoft - End Game?
While web designers were complaining about Internet Explorer's odd web page renderings and wondering when, if ever, we'd get some relief, Microsoft was apparently out designing a whole universe of universally-interoperable stuff. (Thanks Nick_W for mentioning it.) Read Russell Beattie's Microsoft's Consumer Electronics Endgame.
Bottom line: the people that clients of web designers are serving are the general public, for whom whole suites of easy-to-use interoperable devices, operating systems and programs are compelling.
