Photoshop CS Optimization Tips
Today's SitePoint.com Community Crier newsletter has a good, easy-to-understand section on optimizing Photoshop CS for best performance (and less crashes, for those whose computers crash). Written by SitePoint Team Leader URAlly, Photoshop CS Optimization Tips is posted in the Community Crier section of SitePoint forums, where other issues of the newsletter are posted.
By the way, posts will likely be short (and hopefully helpful) this week, as I'm working on a personal project; more about that later.

Hello.
I am having problems with Photoshop CS. It seems to be crashing anytime i use the lasso tool, or the lens blur tool. It has either stalled out the whole computer, where my mouse cannot move and everything is paused or it will completely restart the whole machine. Can you please help me with this situation?
thank you.

Not knowing the setup of your computer (operating system, amount of RAM, etc.), I'm wondering if a reinstall would help. Have you tried asking in the Adobe forums?

Well my system is a pc, Windows XP, 768 Memory, 2.0GHZ RAM.
I have tried to reinstall a couple of times now but i will take at the link you've provided as well. Let me know if you can think of anything else.
Thanks.

That sounds like plenty of RAM. As I haven't had that experience, I'm guessing you might ask at the Adobe forums. I also did a quick search at Google for Photoshop CS crashing. It looks like you might find help there, too.

Thanks for writing back. It is much appreciated. Well i have tried many things and i still struggling. I even installed PShop 7.0 and that crashed on me as well. I took a look at those troubleshooting sites as well, but to no new positive results. Anymore suggestions?
thanks,
Jonathan
