Dunstan Orchard CSS Reference
I was poking around trying to find a solution to (what I think is) an Opera display bug, and happened across Dunstan Orchard's 1976design.com blog. A few things about this site struck me; first, he was addressing some fairly intense coding issues ("I recently had the pleasure of working with the mozilla-europe.org team"). Secondly, he seems to have no 'tude at all. And third, well, he's precisely this old.
But there's a fourth. In my (admittedly biased) view, only a designer well secure with his skills could design a home page that looks like this.
And check out the "nv|bm|br" at the top of the navbar.
Here's another take on design: http://www.hicksdesign.co.uk/. I do like having a look at what (mainly) print designers are doing on the Web. Sure, it may not be optimized, but it's nice.
