Comment Spam: "Sponsored Links"

Here's an edited bit of comment spam that I found on one of my other blogs. Essentially, the blog spammer has "helpfully" recharacterized a dropped URL as a "sponsored link":

Hi all!
Keep up this great resource.
Very much interesting site. Here a lot of helpful information.

Sponsored links: <link deleted>

Yuck.

There are some VERY creative spammers out there.

I've seen one that actually extracts part of the post content, puts it in quotes, and below says something like "I'm not sure I completely with that. Consider checking for more information."

    They're witty. :)

    Yep, you're right.

Interestingly, when we had the comment spam blocker, I'd see a particular type of comment spam. Now, with Akismet, I'm seeing another type of comment spam. Not sure if that's new, or whether I just wasn't seeing it before.

Have your say ...

If this is your first comment, it will be held for moderation (but comments are appreciated). Otherwise, just be courteous, don't drop links unless highly pertinent — and no substituting keywords for your name. Posters must be 16 or older. We use Akismet, so if you don't see your non-spam comment posted, contact me.
